Job Description:
An interesting area of specialization in Architecture is that of Naval Architecture. Besides designing war ships, passenger ships, freighters, submarines, hovercrafts and other such vessels, Naval Architects also plan, design and supervise construction of structures like oil rigs in high seas and loading mechanisms on the coast and ports.
Educational Qualification:
B. Tech Naval Architecture/Naval Engineering. Graduate engineers in mechanical/ aeronautical, civil, metallurgical engineering branches are also recruited into the navy through direct entry for this branch. .
Opening:
Openings for naval architects lies with the ship builders like Hindustan Shipping in Visakhapatnam as well as in shipping firms and fishery and oceanography development organizations. However Indian Navy employs the largest number of trained Naval Architects in India.
