Job Description:
The Officers working in this branch have a legal background (Law Graduates) and deal with all matters related to law like disciplinary cases, court–martials, drafting charges and conducting prosecution. They also give general legal advice to deal with civil cases and to staff. They are known as Judge Advocate General (JAG). This field is also open for women candidates.
A) Through Judge Advocate General Branch/Officers Training Academy (OTA)
(i) Type of Entry - Officers Training Academy (OTA)
(One year training at IMA Dehradun)
(ii) Mode of Selection - Written examination conducted by the Judge Advocate General Branch, Sena Bhawan, Army Headquarters, in Mar. Service Selection Board interview In Jul. Course commences in Oct.
(iii) Advertisement Schedule - Detailed advertisement in Employment News in Nov every year.
(iv) Status Awarded - Lieutenant in Regular Army.
B) Short Service Commission (SSC) (Women Special Entry)
(i) Type of Entry - Officers Training Academy (OTA)
(One year training at OTA Chennai)
(ii) Mode of Selection - Through Service Selection Board Interview.
(iii) Advertisement Schedule - Detailed advertisement in Employment News in Jun and Dec every year.
(iv) Status Awarded - Lieutenant in Regular Army.
Qualification:
A) Through Judge Advocate General Branch/Officers Training Academy (OTA)
(i) Academics - Law Degree (Professionals) with 50% marks.
(ii) Age - Between 21 and 27 years
B) Short Service Commission (SSC) (Women Special Entry)
(i) Academics - Post Graduate/Graduate Degree with diploma in specified Subject/L.L.B. (Professional).
(ii) Age - Between 19 and 27 years
