Medical Officer
Job Description:
Medical Officers provide medical care for all three services personnel and their families and advice on occupational and community medicine. They manage hospitals, clinics and MI rooms. Army trains its own doctors, nursing officers and Para medical staff at Pune and other large hospitals. They also enroll doctors and dental surgeons trained in other medical colleges. They too are specialized to handle small arms to meet with any eventuality during wartime and look into the administrative duties.
How to Join:
A) Through National Defence Academy (NDA)
(i) Type of Entry - National Defence Academy (NDA).
(One year at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and specialized study/training at Army Institute of Medical Studies).
(ii) Mode of Selection - Through UPSC examination followed by Service Selection Board interview.
(iii) Advertisement Schedule - Advertised in all National Leading Newspapers/Employment News in Mar/Apr and Oct/Nov every year.
(iv) Status Awarded - Lieutenant in Regular Army.
B) Through Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE)
(i) Type of Entry - Through CDSE.
(One year training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai).
(ii) Mode of Selection - Direct Service Selection Board Interview. Apply Directly to Additional Directorate General of Recruiting, West Block III, RK Puram, New Delhi-110066
(iii) Advertisement Schedule - Advertised in all National Leading Newspapers/Employment News in Mar/Apr and Oct/Nov every year.
(iv) Status Awarded - Captain in Regular Army.
Qualification:
A) Through National Defence Academy (NDA)
(i) Academics - Pre-Medical
(ii) Age - Between 16½- 19 years.
B) Through Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE)
(i) Academics - MBBS
(ii) Age - Between 19-25 years.
