Job Description:
The work of a Biotechnologist is basically research oriented. Other than research they are also involved in production and marketing. Production of bio–processed materials which may include health care products like antibiotics, vaccines; biochemical products like enzymes and organic solvents, dairy products, chemicals and so on. Career opportunities are also available in area of industrial research and development, pollution control, waste management and various other areas.

Opening:
Candidates with Post–Graduate qualifications in biotechnology are readily absorbed by companies in leading pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, as well as agriculture and allied industries. They are also employed in the areas of planning production and management of bio processing industries, organic chemical industries and in pollution control activities of the major industries. Moreover they are employed in large numbers in research laboratories run by the government and the corporate sector. Department of Biotechnology encourages corporate to sponsor candidates for research. The department has also set the Bio–Tech Consortium of India (BCIC) to provide technical and marketing information to its clients.
