Reporters
Job Description:
Reporters investigate leads and news tips and assesses the importance of the news and then reports the correct account to the readers. They cover press conferences, visit sites of some major occurrence and gather first hand report. Their job involves a lot of traveling and working at irregular hours. A reporter works against deadlines but at the same time has to be accurate and brief while dispatching his story. Most big newspapers have reporters in all major cities to cover local and regional news.
Educational Qualification:
Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communications. Also refer to the ‘introduction’ to journalism.
Opening:
Career opportunities for journalists are open in newspapers, magazines and periodicals, news agencies and bureau, television and radio, Internet, international newspapers and magazines. Employment avenues are also available in the Indian Information Service of the Government, Directorates of Publicity, Advertising and Visual Communication agencies etc.
