Job Description:
The Territorial Army Officers work in the same discipline as of Regular Army Officers in their prescribed field. Territorial Army is also a part of Regular Army and its present role is to relieve the Regular Army from static duties and assist civil administration in dealing with natural calamities and maintenance of essential services in situations where life of the communities is affected or the Security of the Country is threatened and to provide units for Regulars Army as and when required.
How to Join:
(A) Infantry TA
(i) Mode of Selection - Through TA Group Headquarters Command Interview and get through Service Selection Board (SSB).
Ex-Army officers are selected by an Interview conducted by Army HQs.
(ii) Advertisement Schedule - Advertised in all National Leading Newspapers/Employment News in Mar and Sep every year or as and when the vacancies required to be filled up.
(iii) Status Awarded - Lieutenant in Territorial Army.
(B) Railway Engineers
(i) Mode of Selection - Through TA Group Headquarters Command Interview and get through Service Selection Board (SSB).
Based on Departmental recommendations and application must be routed through proper channels i.e. Departmental channels.
(ii) Advertisement Schedule - Advertised in all National Leading Newspapers/Employment News in Mar and Sep every year or as and when the vacancies required to be filled up.
(iii) Status Awarded - Lieutenant in Territorial Railway Engineers.
(C) Engineer Regiment (ONGC/IOC/HPC/BPC) Units
(i) Mode of Selection - Through TA Group Headquarters Command Interview and get through Service Selection Board (SSB).
Based on Departmental recommendations and application must be routed through proper channels i.e. Departmental channels.
(ii) Advertisement Schedule - Advertised in all National Leading Newspapers/Employment News in Mar and Sep every year or as and when the vacancies required to be filled up.
(iii) Status Awarded - Lieutenant in Engineer Regiment.
(D) General Hospitals (TA)
(i) Mode of Selection - Through TA Group Headquarters Command Interview and get through Service Selection Board (SSB).

(E) Military Nursing Services (MNS)
(i) Mode of Selection - Through TA Group Headquarters Command Interview.

(F) Telecommunication Regiment (TA)
(i) Mode of Selection - Through TA Group Headquarters Command Interview.

(iii) Status Awarded - Lieutenant.
Qualification:
(A) Infantry TA
(i) Academics - Graduate Degree from a Recognized University
(ii) Age - Between 18 and 42
(B) Railway Engineers
(i) Academics - Class 1 Officer of Indian Railway with Technical Degree.
(ii) Age - Between 18 and 42
(C) Engineer Regiment (ONGC/IOC/HPC/BPC) Units
(i) Academics - Class 1 Officer of Respective Departments with Technical Degree.
(ii) Age - Between 18 and 42
(D) General Hospitals (TA)
(i) Academics - Serving Doctors in Affiliated Hospitals.
(ii) Age - Between 18 and 42
(E) Military Nursing Services (MNS)
(i) Academics - Serving MNS in Affiliated Hospitals
(ii) Age - Between 18 and 42
(F) Telecommunication Regiment (TA)
(i) Academics - Class 1 Officer of Telecommunication Department with Engineering Degree
(ii) Age - Between 18 and 42
Physical Standards:
(i) Height - 160 cms.
(ii) Weight - 50 Kgs.
(ii) Chest - 82 cms with 5 cms expansion.
Promotional Avenues:
With the length of service promotional avenues and pay and allowances as well as facilities and status are at par with Regular Army. Ex-Army Officers are granted ante date seniority in promotional matters.
