Mathematics is the mother of all sciences. Mathematicians use mathematical theory, computational techniques, algorithms and the latest computer technology to solve economic, scientific, engineering and business problems.

Statisticians apply mathematical principles to the collection, analysis and presentation of numerical data. They apply their knowledge to a variety of subject areas like economics, public health, engineering etc.

Educational Qualification:
Most universities offer graduate/postgraduate courses in mathematics and statistics. BITS, Pilani and the IITs also offer five year integrated courses after 10+2 as well as graduate courses in pure/applied mathematics and statistics.
