Modeling as a profession attracts males and females equally, though there was a time when females dominated it, and still they have better opportunities than their male counterparts. This is often a short-lived career and by and large most models are young though older people do well for certain products and styles.

As such no formal education or training is required for entry into this profession. Age is also not a bar. Depending upon the right opportunity, a career in modeling can take off even at a young age of 16-17 years. Many top ex-models have started grooming schools for potential models. By joining such schools an aspiring model would not only learn the finer nuances of the profession but also get exposure that may ultimately help in getting assignments.
